MARKET / PAD AT PALEXPO? A PARISIAN EXPORT FAIR - BILAN

By ETIENNE DUMONT
It can get gray. It can get cold. Before entering the Geneva PAD, it is better to put on your sunglasses. The Pavilion of Arts and Design, which has been combined with Artgenève, does not give in a discretion yet supposedly Calvinist. For tinsel, it's tinsel! Most of the 29 exhibitors were not afraid of what was shining. It is chrome, lacquered, gold, silver or shimmering. Take out the Sigolin!

By Emma Crichton-Miller
This month, BRAFA returns to the cavernous Tour & Taxis in Brussels for its 63rd edition (27 January - 4 February). A favorite of dealers and collectors in specialisms at the heart of Belgium's collecting culture - including tribal art, comic strips, Belgian Surrealism and Expressionism, and art of the Haute Époque - the fair has significantly broadened its scope and international appeal under the watch of chairman Harold t'Kint de Roodenbeke. This year, there are 134 galleries from 16 countries, including Canada, Japan, Russia and the US.

GENEVA / PHOENIX PROPOSES THE ARCHEOLOGY OF MESOPOTAMIA IN BYZANCE- Review

By ETIENNE DUMONT
It's no surprise. Last Thursday at Art en Vieille Ville (AVV), Phoenix Ancient Art was still in the limelight. No real subject this time, the watchword "10" launched to mark the ten years of the association allowing all variations. It must also be said that this antique trade has a filled fall to say the least. He has just made the Chicago Sofa after having participated in TEFAF Fall in New York. There are limits to energy and renewal.

HICHAM ABOUTAAM BRINGS A MORE COLORFUL PANTHEON TO TEFAF NEW YORK

This October marks the second annual showing of the world renowned TEFAF FALL art fair in New York at the historical Park Avenue Armory. The inaugural fair last year was a grand success with Phoenix Ancient Art building a miniature Roman Pantheon as their stand design, featuring cornices, niches, vitrines, and of course the glowing oculus from the center of the dome, all reminiscent of the interior of the famous Roman temple. This year Hicham Aboutaam is bringing that stand back to life with a new flavor. A color scheme derived from the colors of different ancient stones such as porphyry, pink marble, giallo antico, breccia, alabaster, and white and red granite. The Dutch master stand-builder, Stabilo, has chartered new territory with this concept.

GENEVA / ART IN OLD TOWN HAS A SUCCESSFUL SPRING HOUSEHOLD

By ETIENNE DUMONT
I will end with my visit to Phoenix Ancient Art. The house is looking this time at antique jewelry. A huge enlargement partly hides the window, revealing the sumptuous original Roman gold bracelet. Inside, it's a shower of masterpieces, sometimes already seen here like the Egyptian rock crystal ring surmounted by a tiny sphinx. There are Greek and Etruscan ornaments (with the famous granule). A mask of Middle Eastern gold from the first millennium BC. Sassanian goldsmithery. A Cybele carved from hard stone. Silver rhythms (drinking vases) in the shape of wild boars. Everything is really at the highest level, including prices. A small section is still intended for less fortunate customers. But isn't pleasure ultimately to see?

?? Solche Stücke korrespondieren mit der Abstraktion des 20. Jahrhunderts ??, sagt der Galerist. ?? Viele unserer Kunden sammeln völlig eklektisch. GENEVA / MNEMOSYNE APPROACHES CHIRICO TO ANCIENT ART AT PHOENIX

By ETIENNE DUMONT
She is the daughter of Ouranos and Gaïa, in other words of Heaven and Earth (1). Mnémosyne gave its name to everything, thus creating language. Above all, she remains the goddess of memory, thus keeping the past a little present. Loved by Zeus, this perfect infidel, Mnémosyne also gave birth to nine Muses, each of which has a specialty. Uranie is astronomy. Clio, History. Thalie, comedy. I will stop there.

EARLY SALES AT TEFAF NEW YORK AS NEW FAIR MAKES ITS MARK- Antiques Trade Gazette

By Alex Capon
Elsewhere at the fair, Phoenix Ancient Art had one of the busiest stands. The New York and Geneva dealers had designed their booth in a Pantheon 'style and they sold the piece at the center of their display - the Northumberland Aphrodite Anadyomene statue which was bought by a European collector at the preview for a seven-figure sum .
The 1st century BC-1st century AD Graeco-Roman statue had once belonged to the collection of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland at Syon House where it stood in the Robert Adam-designed interior.
They also sold all three of their Greek Corinthian helmets to three different collectors - New York, California, and Mexico - with prices ranging between $ 200,000 and $ 350,000.
Hicham Aboutaam of Phoenix Ancient Art, said: ?? The VIP preview day was spectacularly crowded with many new faces along with well-known international collectors and an impressive number of people from the museum world.

"..Phoenix Ancient Art exhibits an exquisite Egyptian rock crystal ring, a sphinx resting on the bezel, dating to the Ramesside period of the New Kingdom (1295–1069 BC).
