Scythian art was produced by the nomadic tribes which roamed ancient Scythia (Eastern Europe and western Asia) from the 7th to the 3rd century B.C. The Scythians are best known for their opulent gold work, but they also produced art in wood, leather, bronze, bone, iron, silver and electrum. Stylistically, Scythian art embraces abstract patterns. In addition, its "animal style" was famous in and emulated throughout the ancient world.
