Geometric art was produced during the 9th and 8th centuries B.C. on mainland Greece. The hub of this culture and art was Athens, where great quantities of geometric pottery were produced. Geometric pottery is distinguished by its monumental vases encircled with elaborate friezes of warriors, animals, and geometric designs (meanders and zigzags and triangles are favored), as well as its fine bronze figurines and vessels.
