This wonderful example of a Bactrian Lapis bead necklace has seed-shaped pendants and small lapis beads, restrung with modern handmade 22 kt gold S-hook clasp and small granulated ‘flower’ beads. This fine colored lapis was considered one of the most precious gemstones in ancient cultures.

Seed shaped pendants made of gold, faience, glass and stone, were popular pendant amulets in 7th -6th century B.C. in Greece and Phoenicia. They were commonly known as fertility symbols. These lapis seed pendants from the far East probably date back to the 6th-5th century B.C.
